-In June 2016, CZW obtained a defense verdict for the Canadian County Sheriff’s Office in a Title VII, federal employment case. In Kopf v. Sheriff Edwards, the Plaintiff alleged that her employment as a Deputy Sheriff with the Sheriff’s Office was terminated based on her gender. A federal jury rejected her claim and ruled in favor of the Sheriff’s Office in the Western District of Oklahoma.

-In February 2016, CZW obtained a defense verdict for the Bryan County Sheriff’s Office in a Title VII, federal employment case. In Jackson v. Sheriff Golden, the Plaintiff alleged that he was sexually harassed by a female co-worker, that he reported and complained of such harassment, and that his employment as a Jailer with the Bryan County Jail was terminated because he reported the alleged harassment. The Sheriff denied Jackson’s allegations and asserted he was terminated for legitimate, non-discriminatory, non-retaliatory reasons completely unrelated to his alleged complaint of harassment. A federal jury rejected Jackson’s claim and ruled in favor of the Sheriff’s Office in the Eastern District of Oklahoma.
